Here is her reply.
"I've read the blog and, for the life of me, can't figure this one out! I don't even know what a rounder chicken is. Probably not many people would order this."

One issue with languages in Uganda is that they don't have (or at least didn't have in 2002) an official language. There are 64 tribal languages (plus English) used in country so the possibility for confusion is immense.

In context I wonder if it isn't mayonnaise: the stuff in squeeze bottles often looks like hair cleanser. I would have bought a burger to see what arrived. (At current exchange rates they were only asking $4.85 which isn't bad value for a mzungu meal.)

Martin
Flabmeisterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00934077052437339591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9025651162254792506.post-24322880422712433542016-02-11T10:29:29.452+11:002016-02-11T10:29:29.452+11:00That's a problem that has bothered me for year...That's a problem that has bothered me for years Susan - I assume it's referring to a herb or spice, but I can't think laterally enough to work out their intent. I was hoping you or someone could enlighten me!Ian Fraserhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01023900823785041354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9025651162254792506.post-65226713291233338752016-02-10T19:23:31.395+11:002016-02-10T19:23:31.395+11:00What on earth do you think they thought they were ...What on earth do you think they thought they were saying on that menu? I wondered if someone was inserting random English words as a joke, to see who noticed. Usually with mangled English on menus you can work out what the word ought to be.Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06472449597146519943noreply@blogger.com
